Transition
At Islip Manor High School, we believe that strong foundations lead to bright futures. Starting secondary school is an exciting milestone and we are committed to making every child’s transition as smooth, enjoyable and inspiring as possible.
Our carefully designed transition programme is designed to help our new starters feel confident, connected and ready for the journey ahead. Through a range of engaging events and activities, we provide opportunities for them to build friendships, experience life at secondary school and embrace the values that define our community: being courageous, confident, curious, creative and collaborative.
Below are some key features:
March
Virtual welcome meeting
At this event you and your child will have the opportunity to connect with key members of staff, including our SENDCO and your child’s year leader, as well as view the new Islip Manor High School uniform and find out more about life at the school.
Parents complete online admissions form
We will email you inviting you to log in and complete an online form providing us with all of the contact information and admissions details we need as part of the Admissions process.
Login details to transition portal
We will email you with a username and password to our transition portal: a hub designed to support your child through these next few months. In the portal your child will find information about our staff, our year 7 transition buddies who will support your child and quizzes for different subjects.
May
We are very excited to get to know you and your child. To help us with this, you will be asked to attend a transition interview with your child. You will receive your invitation via email in May. The interviews will take place in June.
June
In person transition meeting
Your interview will take place with Mrs Zarei, Ms Tertullien or Mrs Dennis. During the interview, we will ask you and your child questions that will help us to get to know you as a family. You will also have the opportunity to raise any individual queries that you may have.
Year 6 Parents’ Transition Evening
This evening will be an opportunity for you to meet key staff and get to know more about Islip Manor High School. The date for this will be shared with you in the coming weeks.

On this day your child will meet their class, some of their teachers and complete a range of activities and lessons to help them to get to know their peers and start to build relationships. Parents will also have the opportunity to spend the morning with us in school (from 9.15pm until 11am).
July
Transition Workshop Morning
We know that the more familiar your child becomes with our school, our staff and their new classmates, the more comfortable and relaxed they will feel about the leap from primary to secondary school.. Therefore, we will be hosting an additional opportunity for all students to come together before they start with us in September. This morning is for students only. The date for this will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
August
For an unforgettable summer experience, students are welcome to join our Future Stars Summer School.
September and beyond
Transition doesn’t stop on the first day in September. From peer mentoring and pastoral support to academic guidance and enrichment opportunities, we are dedicated to ensuring every child flourishes at Islip Manor High School.
